Supports Right-to-Carry – Cosponsored and voted for H.R. 822, “The National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act.”  This bill would ensure that law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. 

Hunting Heritage – Voted for H.R. 4089, “The Sportsmen’s Heritage Act,” which would promote America’s hunting heritage and positively impact sportsmen throughout the country.   

Opposed a Federal Gun Database – Voted for an amendment to prevent ATF from circumventing the will of Congress by centralizing records of thousands of Americans’ long gun purchases.

Veterans’ Heritage Firearms Act – Cosponsored H.R. 420, “The Veterans’ Heritage Firearms Act,” to provide an amnesty period during which veterans and their family members could register firearms acquired overseas between 1934 and 1968 without fear of prosecution.

Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act – Cosponsored and voted for “The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act,” to prevent the American gun industry from being sued into bankruptcy through bogus lawsuits.

Second Amendment Enforcement Act – Voted for an amendment to repeal the D.C. gun ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation’s capital.

Opposes Gun Ban – Signed the letter to Attorney General Eric Holder with 64 other House Democrats expressing opposition to the reenactment of the failed 1994 Clinton ban on semi-automatic firearms and ammunition magazines.

Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act – Voted for H.R. 5827, “The Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act,” which would ensure that a person who filed for bankruptcy would not lose their firearms, thereby maintaining the fundamental right to self-defense.

Supports Right-to-Carry in Parks – Voted to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges.
